Drinking water at a glance

Reverse Osmosis Systems

An under-sink system with its own kitchen faucet — a final, finer step for the water you drink and cook with.

Step 1 of 3 · How RO works

How reverse osmosis works

Reverse osmosis uses your water pressure to push water through a membrane with extremely small pores. Clean water passes through; dissolved solids and many other substances are held back and rinsed down the drain.

  • Works with your whole-home system

Your whole-home tanks treat every tap. RO adds one more layer of treatment at a single dedicated faucet.

  • Pre-filters and post-filters

Carbon stages before and after the membrane help protect it and polish taste.

  • Some water goes to the drain

That's how the membrane rinses itself — every RO system does this.

HW800 AlkaPro Tankless RO product sheet

Option 1 · Tankless

HW800 AlkaPro Tankless RO

Compact, no storage tank — makes filtered water on demand.

  • Seven-stage filtration with a 0.0001-micron rating
  • Built-in alkaline remineralization
  • Automatic membrane flush
  • 2:1 product-to-drain ratio
  • Frees up space under the sink
Tank-Style RO product sheet

Option 2 · With storage tank

Tank-Style RO

Keeps filtered water ready in a small pressurized tank.

  • 94–99% TDS rejection (supplier sheet)
  • 50 gallons per day production
  • Built-in alkaline remineralization
  • Pre-pressurized storage tank for steady flow
  • Compact footprint for most kitchen sinks

What both RO systems reduce

The supplier sheets for both systems list reduction of:

  • TDS (total dissolved solids)
  • Lead, barium & cadmium
  • PFOA & PFOS
  • Chlorine & chloramines
  • Fluoride
  • Arsenic V
  • Nitrates & nitrites
  • Turbidity

Both supplier sheets also display NSF/ANSI 58 and NSF 372 claims.
